PARTIES BEFORE THE BALL
Before the second Field Ambulance ball on Friday night Dr. and Mrs. Montgomery Spencer gave a very large sherry party at their home in Upland Road, Kelburn. The drawingroom and study were crowded with people, bright fires and flowers making both rooms warm and cheerful. Dr. and Mrs. Spencer's small daughters helped to look after the guests, handing round plates of savouries arid cigarettes.
There were a number of other parties before the ball. Sir James and Lady Elliott" were host and hostess at a dinner party,, and Dr. and Mrs. Alister Young and Dr. and Mrs. Eardley Button combined; in entertaining a very large number of friends at a buffet dinner, which took place at Dr. and Mrs. Button's home in Hill Street.
