LONDON WOOL SALES

THE CROSSBRED DEMAND

WILL HIGH PRICES HOLD?

(By Telegraph-l'ress Assn.-Copyright! '.' ■ ' .LONDON, April,23.

,Messrs. Dawson, Btd.. commenting on the wool' sales, state that the heights ' prices- attained were almost -fearsome and enough to make folk -.nervous. However, all old * crossbred stocks were completely cleared, and the position appears impregnable. . Merinos advanced more modestly, but with limited supplies and a strong general demand prices may remain still buoyant. The real test must shortly be faced when supplies ■ are more plentiful. Meanwhile, consumption in all grades has developed at an unexpected rate. The outstanding feature of the season has been the resumption of Russian ' operations. Unexpectedly strong support ■ from America also helped'the market. The home trade finds difficulty in making ends meet where selling and buying are being dragged at the heels of the strong world demand.
