INSTITUTE AFFAIRS
WAINUI-O-MATA MEETING
The annual meeting of the Wainui-o-mata Women's Institute took place recently, Mrs. Heathcote presiding over a fair attendance. Mrs. Hume, of the South Wellington Federation, conducted the meeting, giving a helpful and inspiring address on the W.I. movement.
The following officers were elected:— President, Mrs. Heathcote; treasurer, Mrs. Rattray; secretary, Mrs. Len Wood; committee Mesdames Callis, Dick, Haddy, McGowan, J. O. Wood, and the Misses Drummond and Jones.
The winners of the points prize for the cooking competition were Mrs. Len Wood (first) and Mrs. Mason (second).
During the social half-hour Mrs. Heathcote took the opportunity to present a leather shopping bag as a parting gift to Mrs. Richardson, who is leaving the Valley. Mrs. Hume was presented with a bouquet of lilies. Afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mrs. J. O. Wood, Mrs. Len Wood, and Miss Ngaire Wood. PARAPARAUMU. The March meeting of the Paraparaumu Women's Institute was held recently, Miss Stocker presiding. Miss Maddever was the guest for the afternoon The following officers were elected:— President, Mrs. Delahunty; committee, Mesdames G. C. Maclean, Hardham, T. Harris, Hadfield, Clarkson, Pascoe, Baucke, Blake, Burgess, Misses Treadwell, Pasmore, Lynch, and Dayies. Satisfactory reports were given of last year's work. Mrs. Neild, who is leaving the district, was presented with a bouquet. Three new members were nominated. The points prize for the year was won by Mrs. Hardham. The competition for next month is six pikelets and "the best bloom in your garden."
The hostesses were Mrs. Burgess and Miss Wingate.
