CLERICAL WORKERS' UNION

(To the Editor.)

'Sir,—Major Pharazyn's letter■ in last night's "Post" only confirms the growing' belief of members that the Clerical Workers' Union is far from the wish of the clerical workers themselves. The union secretary states that at the special meeting of the union held on March 15 the last resolution was passed about 9 p.m. and that the meeting concluded after 10 p.m. All this is very true, but the correspondent does not explain why no resolutions were passed after 9 p.m.. . Admittedly it: would have been impossible for all the remits to have been discussed in full at any single meeting of the union, but the president knows and the secretary should 'know th'it it was his (the secretary's)' duty to see that sub-committees of the union were set up for the purpose of ' discussing these remits and bringing ' down . a report 'to the assembled union members. Why was this not done?

; The secretary's reply to "Clerical Worker" does little ! but state1 facts which-'are'quite we'll known to most members, of the union. "A majority voted" against an amendment reducing the subscriptions for men as well," says the' secretary; but not by any means-an overwhelming majority, it may be acjded. In'the opinion of union members the clerical workers will require to carefully watch the developments that are taking place.—l am, etc., .•'.'■
