Cyril Christian Hayes, aged 22, a labourer, who the ' day before had been"sentenced to six riionths' gaol for the cpnversipn pf two" cars, made a second appearance befpre: the Magistrate yesterday on a charge 'pfepmmitting wilful mischief to Government property of a value of £3. It appears that Hayes tried his strength on a locked door in the' Palmerston North lock-up. arid broke through. He also damaged' another piece of property in. the lock-up." Another charge was that of being a rogue and- vagabond in that he was found Unlawfully in a house at night:'He pleaded guilty to all three offences—
On the first charge Hayes was sentenced to two months''gapl, which will bring his total time under lock and key to eight months. On the second charge he was sentenced to three months' gaol to be served concurrently with the main sentence. The Magistrate advised''the'accused to act' less foplishly when next he was free.
