LAMB COMPETITION

The London placing of individual pens in the Wairarapa display in the North Island district lamb competition is as follows: —

Pen No. 4, first, Mrs. L. E. Barton (unplaced in yards and third on hooks at Waingawa). A magnificent pen of lambs.

Pen No. 22, second, J. G. Mitchell (unplaced in yards and on hooks). A magnificent pen of lambs, full of meat and in every way desiraKle. Very little difference between this pen and Pen No. 4.

Pen No. 32, third, Cooper Bros, (unplaced in yards or on hooks). Three very good lambs, one of which, however, was perhaps not quite so perfect in shape and make as Pens No. 4 and 22.

The judges in London, specially requested to do so, commented on pens placed first and second on hooks at Waingawa as follows: —

Pen No. 29, Wairarapa Training Farm. Placed first' in New Zealand. This pen contained two very good lambs, but the other.- undoubtedly carried an excess of fat on the hindquarters. Pen No. 26, C. M. Ross. Placed second in New Zealand. This pen comprised three beautiful lambs, which, however,. were too Tat for the London Ira do.
