TWO STOWAWAYS
' At the West Ham Police Court on February 18, John Green, 19, and a youth of 16, seamen, were charged as stowaways found on board the Rangitane at Wellington on January 14. They pleaded guilty. Mr. Harvie Watt, who prosecuted, said the Rangitane was searched unsuccessfully for stowaways but when the vessel got to sea the. prisoners were found. They were troublesome on board, and each was handcuffed as a consequence. When the Rangitane arrived at Jamaica and was berthed the men were seen walking down the gangway. They were brought back, and then it was found that the handcuffs on each had been filed through. Green was sentenced to four weeks imprisonment. The youth was sent to a remand home for four weeks.
