BREAK WITH FEDERATION
WASHINGTON, March-10;
Mr. John L. Lewis announced that the Committee for Industrial Organisation is organising' State labour federations and city and central labour bodies as rivals to similar bodies, existing within the American Federation, of Labour, thus making a final break with the federation. He also announced'that the C.1.0. will soon start the organisation of drivers to enrol most of the 2,250,000 workers in the textile and' oil refining industries. Mr. William Green, president of the federation, said that the action, of the C.1.0. was only what he predicted a year ago. X Meanwhile, the strikers held full control of the Chrysler plants at' Detroit. The Hudson works were also closed, but the General Motors plants at Flint reopened. The State Governor (Mr. F. Murphy) is prepared to fly from Florida^ to renew peace efforts.
