"FROTH OF LIFE"

(To the Editor.}

Sir, —Kindly permit me to correct a misconception in Mr. T. A. Fraser's letter appearing in Monday's "Post" under "Froth of Life." I agree with much that he says, such, as the "growing inclination to recognise wealth (i.e., worldly goods) as a permanent standard of worth"; and "the essence of education is education of the body." But when he says that "the education of the body is of primary importance," he immediately loses ground by attaching more importance to the body than he does to the mind, from which his beliefs and ideals that . he so highly commends originate. A mind that is soundly educated will educate and rule the body, hence the question that is of primary importance today is mind over matter. We think too much—in fact, out of all proportion—in terms of the body.- We love to give the body delicious foods and drinks. for its nourishment; beautiful clothes to clad it in, and provide attractive houses and grounds in which it is to reside. All these things are good in moderation. If the mind were similarly fed with the best of food and drinks and. arrayed 'in the richest apparel—to counterbalance the beauty of the body—we would assuredly have more balance in the world today. There is beauty in all things. It is not so much the voice of the Church and the Press today we have to rely on to tell us that which is right and truth but the voice of Him who cried "Glory to God in the Highest," with whom we could all join in and sing by raising our own voices in harmony with His. That is the Voice we must hear to give us the real "Froth of Life."—l am', etc.,

THOMAS F. SIMPSON.
