Values were slightly better at today's Addington market for most classes of stock. Store sheep: A yarding of about 20.000 with ewes predominating. There was a freer sale of ewes than at last week's market, two-tooths being better by 2s a head, and old ewes by Is. A southern consignment of Romney twotooths sold at 41s 3d and 41s 9d. 1 orward lambs sold a shade better, notwithstanding the lowered export schedule for fat lambs.. Fat lambs: Values were down about Is to Is 6d in accordance with the reduction in the export schedule of id a

lb. The offering was a small one of 1800 head. •

Fat sheep: -A slightly smaller entry. Wethers were in small supply, and sold at an improvement. The best brought from 39s to 345; good, 26s to IBs; medium,-245-to 25s 6d. Ewes sold at fully last week's rates, exporters operating at a small reduction on recent rates. Best ewes sold from 22s to' 265; good medium-weights, 19s to 21s iid; others, from 14s upward. Fat cattle: A smaller penning of 373 head and ah improvement of about los ahead. Best steers sold at from £12 to £15 12s 6d; good, £10 10s to £11 ss; others, down to £8; • best heifers sold at from £8 to £10, and cows to £9'los. ' '■■■•.. :Fat pigs: A good sale of porkers, but baconers were down by 5s a head. Porkers made from 33s 6d to 46s 6d, average price 5Jd to 6Jd per.lb; baconers, 43s 6d to £4 5s 6d, average price per lb sid to s£d.

MERCANTILE LEAGUE

A meeting of the management committee of the Wellington. Mercantile Cricket League was held last evening, Mr. J. J. Furlong presiding. Those present were Messrs. B. Whitmore, J. Young. E. F. Casey, D. Calcinai, E. R. Martin, J. McL. McArthur, W. R. King, A. A. Jennings, N. Aldridge, and S. W. Martin.

Mr. Jennings (chairman of the fixtures- committee) reported that the special grade competition, which consisted of the F, and G grades, would finish' on Saturday. March 13. Play from that date to the end of the season would only be carried on in the A, B, C, D, and E grades. It was decided in view of this that the Heinnemann Cup comeptition, which is won by the club with the highest batting aggregate, would close on Saturday also.

. A letter was received from the Wairarapa Cricket Association stating that it would .accept the league's offer of a representative fixture at Easter, to be played in Masterton. Mr. Casey was appointed manager of the team. .Mr, Furlong gave information concerning a meeting of sports bodies called by the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) for the purpose of discussing the formation of a National Sports Council. It was decided that the league was in full sympathy with the scheme and would give all aid possible. It was decided that as the touring M.C.C. team is playing a representative fixture in Wellington on March ?,7 all league games would be postponed. CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS.
