UNDEFENDED DIVORCES

The civil calendar of Egypt was introduced in 4236 8.C., this being the earliest fixed date in history,' according to Dr. James H. Breasted, of NewYork University. "The mind that devised this calendar," Dr. Breasted reported, "put social and economic needs first, and divorced the calendar from celestial processes." Since the calendar did not depend on the movements of the moon, each month contained thirty days, which, together with five holidays, made a year of 365 days, causing a discrepancy of one day each four years, ,
