FOUND AT WOODVILLE

PALMERSTON N., This Day.
William Joseph Fox, the prisoner who escaped from his escort on - Monday night at Stratford by diving through an open window of the train on which he - was' proceeding to the . Waikare Prison, was recaptured, late yesterday afternoon in a house half 'a mile to the north of Woodville. A detective and a constable, members of a large party operating under Inspector Cummings, entered the house and closed on Fox, who surrendered without a struggle. He was. brought to the Palmerston North gaol by, car.
Fox appeared- before., Mr. J. C. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today charged with escaping from lawful cus.tody at Stratford. On the application of Sergeant Mclntyre, the accused was remanded to appear at New Plymouth on March 18..
