The House of Representatives passed the Naval Supply Bill after defeating an amendment which would have requested President Roosevelt to call a disarmament conference of representatives of Britain, France, Japan, Germany, Italy, and Russia to "halt the mad naval race." ■■• •■ < ' Following its defeat, the amendment will again be submitted in the form of a resolution for action later. The Naval Bill provides 130,000,000 dollars for the complete construction of two battleships, 11 cruisers, 48 destroyers, and 17 submarines.
