PICNICS

Some 300 adults and 80 children attended, the annual picnic of the Wellington Hairdressers' Assistants Union at Maidstone Park yesterday. Despite showery weather a varied sporting programme was held, the principal event, the 100 yds championship, being won for the second year in succession by C. Lamont, who retains the Riverhead Gold Cup. The committee comprised Messrs. T. Tierney, L. Clark, R. Green; N. Sander, A. Hoxburgh, .T. Catherall, and Miss Bradstock. The starter for the races was Mr. L. Clark, and the judge Mr. W. Spittall. Results of the events are as follows: —Girls 2 to 4: Joyce Smith 1, K. Sander 2.
