RIBBENTROP'S REMARK

THREAT ON COLONIES ISSUE

BRITAIN IGNORING HIS OUTBURST

The political correspondent of the Australian Associated Press agency is informed that the British Government is ignoring the outburst of the German Ambassador, Herr yon Ribbentrop, and is not making representation to Berlin, regarding it merely as another of Herr yon Ribbentrop's glaring breaches of diplomatic etiquette.

Germany's campaign for the return of her colonies is regarded here as representing an unreal issue, being insincere, and largely smoke fury-

The Australian Associated Press agency is further informed that Britain is satisfied that Australia would never give up New Guinea and that New Zealand would not cede Samoa.

"We hope there is growing appreciation abroad of the injustice done to Germany regarding colonies, and that it will result in the mandatory Powers making the gesture we expect, and which Germany has a right to demand," declared Herr yon Ribbentrop, addressing the Nazi Economic Council at Leipzig Fair in a speech which it was believed he made with the full understanding of Herr Hitler. Herr yon Ribbentrop declared that it was in the interests of all countries to remove the world-wide unrest created by this injustice. The remedy, he said, could be found either by - solving the problem of returning Germany's colonies or by Germany's own strength. The political correspondent of the "News Chronicle" stated that the speech was interpreted as a threat .to _ regain colonies by force, and li'ad incensed the British Cabinet and made normal diplomatic exchanges with him practically impossible.
