MARRIED 500 TIMES
■ ■-A couple who have been making a comfortable- living out of getting married again and : again have just been discovered by the police in., Warsaw. Knowing that orphans about to marry will always get help and wedding gifts, the couple decided to exploit the goodftearted, and formed an alliance with sevF-cal other crooks, including a marriage broker and a fictitious priest. They sent but agents begging gifts, and invited all those who gave anything to .the wedding. But the , wedding was /always held in some remote place out of Warsaw, and few people ever got there. Recently, however, one of the donors happened to be in the town where the "wedding" was to take place, and. attended the .ceremony. To his astonishment he found that the bride and bridegroom were two orphans he had seen' married only a week earlier. •The couple confessed that they had already played this trick 500 times.
