BELT SERIES BEGUN
CANTERBURY MATCH
(From "The Post's" Special Reporter.) TRENTHAM, March. 5.
Although the; wind became brisk •and slightly variable on the ranges- today, the standard of scoring. in the opening match of the National Rifle Association's annual meeting showed an improvement over the first day last year, when--weather conditions were similar., H. K. Hunt (Suburbs) made 104-against the'winner's 102 last year, and 98's were counted out today where 96's won prizes a year ago. The B grade ' riflemen also set a high.standard, • 97's being counted out as compared with 95's last year. The. aiming mark was increased in size over the one in use a year ago and this gave competitors a' better chance at the ranges used. . .■■■■■ The Belt series was commenced in . the...afternoon when the Canterbury Match was fired. Good scores -were again.: a feature, of the shooting at • both ranges, three competitors-making their start for the Belt aggregate with a loss of only one- point each by putting in nineteen bulls. ,The first prize money went' to F. N. McVicar (waipukurau)' on", the count. The B grade was won by N.
