TAXI BUSINESS
COMMITTEE'S REPORT
The report of the committee which recently investigated the taxi and town carrying business-is at present being considered by the Minister of Transport (the' Hon. E. Semple).
The committee consisted of' Messrs. P. M. Butler (chairman), J.\Walker, and H. B. Smith. •;-.. . . . ~. .
"The report," said. Mr. Semple today, "is a very, comprehensive one, and contains some far-reaching recommendations aimed at improving the general' efficiency of. these . two .; important classes of transport and the working conditions' of the persons engaged .in them. Some of. the recommendations will require legislation to.give effect to. them. "I am .'arranging to have the report printed for the. information of the public.l shall make an announcement regarding the, action that will, be taken as soon as the report has been considered by Cabinet." . r .
