AUTUMN MEETING

FINE BUT WINDY WEATHER

TRACK HARD & FAST

The Wellington Trotting Club was favoured with fine weather for its Autumn Meeting today, but there was a strong wind. The track, which was well turfed, provided good, firm going, and times were well up to standard. The meeting was run under the extended interval of 40 minutes between races. Win-and-place betting was operated, with the lowest unit 10s. The Lower Hutt Municipal Band was in attendance. Following were the results up to time of going to press:— RAND WICK HANDICAP, £150; second horse £25 and third £15 from the stake; for unhoppled trotters; 3.40 class; 1J miles. . s—6—G. Tommy Boy .was in front practically throughout the Randwick Handicap, and Bronte and Indolent were the only ones to offer him serious opposition. The race was ruined, however, when Gerfalcon broke with three furlongs to go, and Franz Derby, who was going very well at the time, put her foot through Swordsman's sulky. Tommy Boy led for home from Bronte and Indolent, with Gerfalcon several lengths back at the head of the others. Tommy Boy was not seriously threatened, and beat Indolent by a length, with Bronte the same margin away third, and Gerfalcon a ' poor fourth. Sonoma King, Mother's Boy, and Renegade were next. Pursuit outstayed Crocus ■by half a length for second, and Transfer was a bare fqurth, followed by Queenie Direct and Snowy Bingen. The others were strung out.
