DEATH AT SEA

MISS KATHERINE LUND

News has been received in Christchurch of the death, at sea of Miss Katherine- Lund, 'daughter of Mrs. Lund and the late-Mr: H. M. Lund, of Christchurch (states the "Star-Sun"). Miss Lund and her mother were returning to .New Zealand from a trip to England by the Eangitata, due in Wellington at the end of next week.

Member of a musical family, Miss Lund was herself a-talented musician, and a gifted teacher of the pianoforte. News of her death'will be received with great regret among her many pupils and friends in Christchurch. A gifted, generous-minded, and unselfish woman, she made many friends, and retained an affectionate interest in her pupils long after she ceased to be their teacher. ' '

Miss Lund had been'absent from New Zealand for nearly a. year at the time of her death. She spent the greater part of that time" in England with her mother and her married sister, who joined them from Egypt. They had planned to spend some time in Egypt on their -way home to New Zealand, but when Miss Lund became seriously ill a few months ago, this trip was abandoned, and, with her mother' and brother, Mr. E. H. Lund, of Wellington, Miss Lund sailed for home by the Rangitata. . . i
