OIL RESOURCES
OVERSEAS INTEREST
NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.
Confidence that in the. not-distant future serious efforts would be made to-locate a flow of oil in the Dominion was expressed by the Minister of Mines (the Hon. P. C. Webb) this. morning. The Minister revealed that overseas interests were keenly interested in the possibility of discovering a flow of oil in New Zealand and many overtures had been made to him for the introduction of up-to-date legation that would preserve the interests of those prepared to spend large sums of money on prospecting. "Legislation will be brought down next session to put the whole" of our oil resources on a proper national basis," the Minister added. "This has already been done in Great Britain and I hope to have a Bill ready when Parliament assembles."
