LATE MR. J. A. PLIMMER

■ A large number of mourners attended the memorial service in. St. Barnabas' Church, Khandallah, yesterday, to the late Mr. John A.-.Plimmer, one of the city's oldest residents. The chief mourner was Miss Gertrude Plimmer, daughter of the deceased, and the pallbearers were the six grandsons, Messrs. William,. Clifford, Maxwell, Leonard, and Geoffrey Plimmer, ■ and Dr. John Plimmer.

The service was conducted by the Rev. N. F. E. Robertshawe; 'of St. Mark's Church, Wellington, the Rev. E. M. Cowie, vicar of. Khandallah, being absent through illness. . Not only had Mr. Plimmer givea valuable service 'to St. Barnabas' Church, but also to St. Mark's and. St. Peter's, in the same diocese, said Mr. Robertshawe. ■ There were still some at St. Mark's who remembered the good work he had done there (he was the last of the" first vestry of that church and at one time choirmaster), and it was a privilege to speak of the noble life of this great servant of God. There was, they all knew, such a thing as human sorrow, but, looking : back on such a life, that sorrow might easily be changed to. a feeling of thankfulness. It could be said that the late Mr. Plimmer had given a great, part of his time to the service of God, and his life would be an inspiration to others, as it. had been since the early days of Wellington.

Among those ■■ present were Mrs. Charles Plimmer, (sister-in-law), Misses Ella and Mary- Plimmer (nieces), Mesdames Leese, Glover, and .Drummond (nieces), Messrs. Harcus Plimmer (nephew), Charles B. Gaby (nephew), Harry Plimmer (grandnephew), T. C. A. Hislop (Mayor oil Wellington), F. W. Furkert,- J. J. Reich, H. Desborough, E. B. Vance, A. Meek, H. E.1 Nicholls, W. F. Ward, F. Bennet't, A. Gibbons, J. G. Smith, R. Rawnsley, E. W. Gibbs, and G. W. Barltrop (representing St. Mark's Church).
