BUSY DAY AT DUNEDIN

DUNEDIN, March 1. '

The Minister of Raiiways and Indu»tries and Commerce Uhe Hon. D. G. Sullivan), accompanied by the General Manager of Railways (.Mr.G. H. Mackley), arrived by air from Wellington this afternoon. The Minister spent-a busy afternoon inspecting matters of railway interest and also met members of the Otago Harbour Board at the Birch Street Wharf, where the question of replacement of lines on the proposed new wharf was discussed. Later in the afternoon Mr. Sullivan visited the railway workshops at Hillside and addressed the men employed there, being enthusiastically received. In the evening he received a number of deputations, of both a private and public nature. The Ministerial party will leave for the south tomorrow morning via the Outram and Roxburgh branch lines, spending the night at Balclutha, where further deputations will be heard. At the conclusion of his visit to the Hillside workshops, the men carried the following motion:—"This mass meeting of Hillside workshop employees wishes to express its appreciation of the good work that has been accomplished by the Labour Government, and that it pledges itself to give its wholehearted support and co-opera-tion in any future legislation that the Government deems necessary to introduce in the interests of.the workers.
