FIRE THROUGH SMOKING IN BED
NEW YORK, February 24.
Judge Bohan dismissed the manslaughter indictment against William Hoffman, who was accused of smoking a cigarette in bed and starting a fire which caused the deaths of five persons in a boarding-house, holding that the act of a sleeping man dropping a cigarette and starting a fire did not. constitute culpable negligence.
The accused was set free,
