HEAD-ON COLLISION
MOTOR-CYCLE AND CAR When a motor-cycle and a motor-car ! met at the intersection of Birdwood Street and Chaytor Street, on the ' northern side of the Karori Tunnel, ; shortly before 7.45 p.m. yesterday, K. ! Wilson, a crane driver, of 48 Kano 1 Street, Karori, who was riding the : cycle, received a fractured right thigh • and shock. B. G. Gapes, a clerk, of 16 Braith- • waite Street, Karori, who was a past scnger in the front seat of the car, received cuts to his right hand. The • car was driyen by S. S. Williams, of : 9 The Parade, Island Bay. Both occu- > pants of the car are in the employ of L ' Manthel Motors, Ltd. 1 Williams was driving east along 1 Birdwood "Street and Wilson north 1 along Karori Road. It is believed that " a thick patch of weeds growing close 3 to the side of the road on the corner > was one of the causes of the accident, ' causing the view to be obscured. The cycle hit the car on the right side just behind the front wheel, and the rider was thrown against the car and 1 on to the roadway. The front right- : hand wheel of the car was buckled, J and the windscreen smashed, but the 2 motor-cycle escaped lightly. '• The Free Ambulance took Wilson to : the hospital. > "*~
