KING GEORGE V
TRIBUTES TO MEMORY
CONCERN FOR HIS PEOPLE
LONDON, January 21,
The "Daily Herald" says that ae dusk fell at Sandringham last night, Queen Mary went to the room in which King George V died exactly a year ago and spent a few minutes in silence. After dinner all the members of the Royal Family assembled in Queen Mary's sitting-room, where a short prayer meeting was held. Lord Dawson of Penn, broadcasting on behalf of the King George V Memorial Fund, revealed that the ebbing of King George's strength became pronounced as early as October, 1935. Work then became a great effort, but his interest in and concern for his peoples showed no slackening. Amid the lengthening shadows of his not new illness his litany was, "Give me life as long as I can bring service and happiness."
