WATER POLO
LAST NIGHT'S GAMES An improvement in the standard of play of all teams was noticeable in the water-polo games played under the control of the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association last night at Thorndon and Petone. The following are the results, gamei being at Thorndon unless otherwise mentioned: — A Grade. —Maranui 2 (T. Hewitt and C. Claridge), Wellington 2 (R. Hatchwell and D. Page); University 2 (M. Next week's Thorndon games arc to be played on Wednesday because of the Petone carnival. The draw will be published in tomorrow's swimming nci.es. PETONE POLO MATCHES The usual Thursday evening swimming competitions of the Petone Amateur Swimming and Life-saving Club were this week postponed on account of the late shopping night, but the two water-polo matches were decided. The first match, Petone B v. University B, was won by Petone after a good contest, by 2 goals to nil, J. Cleland and G. May scoring for Petone. The second match, Petone C v. Maranui C, was won by Maranui, 2 goals to 0. Mr. J. Logie was referee for both games.
