Miss Nancy Galpin (Marton), formcrly of Massey College, who graduated * D.Sc., Edinburgh,, with a thesis on ' growth gradients in wool, has been f awarded a grant by the Scottish Board ] of Agriculture. She is working in the " research department of Edinburgh Uni- ( versity. Miss Norma Welch (Wellington) has returned to Tyroler House, St. Anton am Ariberg, one of the hostels of the Workers' Travel Association, where she holds the position of hostess and guide. Miss Cynthia Herbert-Smith, who has been appointed music director at Wanganui Girls' College, will leave this week by the Tamaroa. Mrs. T. Tait (Dunedin) has for the past six months been visiting relatives in the United States and Canada, and she arrived in England a few days ago by the Queen Mary to see England, Scotland, and the Continent. Christmas was spent in Birmingham _ with Mrs. and Miss Larnach. Mrs. Tait expects to be in London next month, and to remain until after the Coronation. Her homeward voyage will be via Suez, with a break in Australia, and New Zealand should be reached at the end of 1937. Students of Marsden School and old girls of that school will be interested to hear that Miss Honor Fry attended Miss Mayhew's Old Girls' reunion party in London. Miss Fry's intentions are to remain for three years as a student at the Chelsea College of Phy- ■ sical Education, arid when she has completed that course she hopes to return to the Dominion to teach in one of 1 the schools. She is very much enjoy- : ing her work. The Christmas vaca- : tion is being divided between Win- : Chester and Harrogate. Miss Honor Fry comes from Lower Hutt. ' Countess Jellicoe is staying at Davos, " Switzerland, with Earl Jellicoe, her r son. The party also includes Major 1 Edward and Lady Gwendoline Latham.
