BEAU PERE COLT TOPS MARKET

LIMOND ALSO GOES HIGH

TOTAL OF £24,980 REALISED

Prices were good without soaring to pre-depression levels at the eleventh national yearlina thoroughbred sales at Trentham yesterday. Three colts, two by Beau Pere, and one by Limond, went to four figures. The stock of Beau Pere, which was making its first appearance in the ring, was in great demand. The top price of 1050 guineas was given by Mr. E. J. Watt, Sydney, for the Beau Pere colt out of Helen, by Limond from Bonny Portland, by Boniform—Helen Portland, thus a close relative on the female side to Reremoana. Lady Cavendish, and Golden Hair. The bay colt by Beau Pere from Summertime, by Grandcourt j Very Hdt, half-brother to Greenwich, 1 also created keen competition and went to Mr. C. Wheeler, South Australia, for 1000 guineas.. Mr. Wheeler also bought the Beau Pere colt out of Chelae, by Cyklon—Deneb, by The Welkin, a' half-brother to Limulus and Swift and Sure, for 750 guineas. There was also a keen demand from Australia for the Beau Pere fillies. Mr. W. J. Smith, New South Wales, who purchased Beau Pere at the Westmere dispersal sale on Tuesday, being the freest bidder. The Limonds brought good prices, both from the fact that they will now be practically unprocurable, as well as the record of Limond's stock. The highest price was 1000 guineas, given bv Mr. G. J. Barton, Dunedin, for the colt out of Curtain, by Thespian from Cowl, a brother to Gladswood, Load Applause, Pelmet, and Smoke Screen. Dr. Nigel Smith. Sydney, bought the colt by Limond from Anklet, by Absurd—Bronze. a brother to Garter Knight, for 700 guineas. The three Limond colts brought 2150 guineas, and two fillies 825 guineas, both the latter being bought by Australia, Mr. C. H. J. Schmidt, New South Wales, giving 550 guineas for the sister to Theo out of Mivabelle 11, and the filly out of Mislaid going to Queensland.

There were only a few Siegfrieds on offer and Mr. R. H. W. Holden, the owner of that horse, had only a single lot up, a filly frciri the Chief Ruler mare Princess Bell. Mr. J. S. McLeod had the largest offering by Siegfried. The demand for tiunting Songs was fair, and the half-brother by Lord Quex to Flood Tide wer.t to Sydney, reaching 1 400 guineas. The Tidals were few. and there was only a moderate demand for the stock of Lord Warden, and a poor response to the majority of the offerings by Nightmarch. Australia took 33 of the 104 lots sold, Mr. Kemball buying seven, W. Kelso six, and J. T. Jamieson five. The 104 lots sold realised 24,980 guineas. Following were the later sales:— On Account of J.
