NEW RECORD CLAIMED
SOUTH ATLANTIC FLIGHT NATAL (Brazil), December 31. Mile. Maryse Bastie, the French airwoman, set an unofficial speed record on a 1281-mile flight across the South Atlantic from Dakar, for which Miss Jean Batten holds the official record. Mile. Bastie's elapsed time was 12 hours 7 minutes. Miss Batten flew from Dakar to Brazil in 13 hours 15 minutes.
