LOWENBERG TOO GOOD

LADY KYRA GETS HOME THE RACING AT STRATFORD (By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.") NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. The Trial Stakes at the Stratford Racing Club's Summer Meeting yesterday was easy for Orate, who jumped straight to the front and fairly strolled away in the straight to score by six lengths. Racecall and Kentucky Song followed Orate into the straight to fill the minor places, Racecall finishing half a length in, front. Gaystep made up a good deal of ground and finished a good fourth. Lady Kyra won the Douglas Handicap narrowly from Clessamor. Notium was the early leader, but was joined by Clessamor before the straight was reached and the pair turned for home ahead of Lady Kyra and Ned Cuttle. Clessamor soon had th'e measure of Notium but was challenged by Lady Kyra, who stuck on just too well for Clessamor. Grateful came with a great final dash into third place. Notium stopped quickly and Royal Secret headed him foi fourth. Ned Cuttle showed pate after losing ground at the barrier

Winsome Lu won the Juvenile Handicap in good style after being the last horse to move. Fafner, Gold Band, and Fairy Dale made the pace from Seaham, but in the straight Winsome Lu and Seaham came through to fight out the issue. Windsome Lu drew out over the last furlong to win by a length and a half. Fairy Dale was a good third, with the fast-finish-ing Shemseh next. Winsome Lu won too well to make an excuse for the rest, though Seaham is promising.

DECISIVE WIN IN THE CUP. Coming with a strong run in the straight Lowenberg won the Stratford Cup decisively. Taitoru and Airing were the leaders most of the way from Tahurangi. Taitoru took charge in the straight from Tahurangi but then Lowenberg came fast on the outside and cut Taitoru down in the last 100 yards and won going away by a good half-length. Tahurangi was a length away third and Fersen, who was hopelessly pocketed in the straight, was lying in fourth place. He looked very unlucky. One Whetu was a good fifth but Airing and Tradesman failed to stay*

After trailing Beau Star for a mile in the Ohura Hurdles Rua King ran to the front to score easily. • Racewhip was well back early but finished fast to secure second money. Delrain, who was third, might have been closer but for running down the fence by the seven furlong's. Redolent failed to stay, but Soloist ran a good race and should improve. Bantry won the Tariki Hack Handicap like a good horse after being checked at the distance. Trouvaille made the pace from Bantry l , High Test, and Cyllaros, but the field closed up at the turn. High Test was in command a furlong from home but Bantry finished solidly to beat him by a neck. International and Master Limond, wh6 had to cover extra ground at the turn, were third and fourth. Tutor was finishing on after being last most of the way. After trailing Calshot until the straight was reached, Tuaheahe ran to the front at the distance to win the Eltham Highweight Handicap easily from Mustang, who finished too well for Calshot. Red Fox was a moderate fourth, but the rest were outclassed.

Advance Plane paid the big dividend of the day when he won the Railway Handicap. Displaying fine speed he ran to the front at the far turn to lead Starturn and Professional into the straight and he hung on solidly to

, hold off Professional by a nock. Sanhedrim finished well in third place. Red Sand was unlucky and was flying in fourth place at the finish. The day was wet when the meeting opened, but the rain passed off. There was a good attendance, and the totalisator receipts were nearly £2000 greater than last year, £19,409. RESULTS IN DETAIL.
