Many friends of Comtesse de VilmeHau;mont (Vinia de Loitte) will be interested to hear that she is in Auckland with an opera company, and will be in Wellington shortly. Miss Agnes Wheen, who for the past 12 years has been principal of Annesley College, Boural, Australia, has resigned her position, and will arrive at Auckland next month to attend the conference of the Australia and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science. Mrs. Gilman, the popular secretary of the Pioneer Club, who is leaving New Zealand for a year's holiday abroad, left by the Limited for Auckland on Thursday to join the Akaroa, which will leave on January 7. Many Mends assembled to bid Mrs. Gilman farewell and "bon voyage." Mr. and Mrs. J. Coates and Miss Joclyn Coates, Lower Hutt, and Mr. and Mrs. G. Sutherland, Otaki, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. Vi anganui. Mrs. R. Martin, Wellington, is visiting her mother, Mrs. J. Parkinson. Opotiki. Miss Margaret H. Ward, Kelburn, who has been visiting England for the past 18 months, is expected to arrive in Wellington on January 4 by the Awatea, from Sydney. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Chainey are Wanganui visitors to Wellington, and will leave shortly for Australia.

Mrs. T. Barnes, Ngaio, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Peter Lewis, Wanganui. Dr. and Mrs. Benham and their daughter, arrived in Wellington yesterday from Pleasant Point, South Canterbury. They are at present staying at Astor Flats, Hobson Street. A recent arrival by the Niagara was Mrs. John Bath, of Paddockwood, Saskatchewan, who is spending a holiday with Mr. and Mrs. G. J. and N. McCormack (Dunedin) are staying at the Grand Hotel. Mrs. Small, Mrs. Stoltz (Ohio, U.S.A.), and Miss Castor (Brisbane) are guests at the Midland Hotel. Mrs. E. W. Sherman (Christchurch), Mrs. W, F. Beechey (Auckland), Mrs. IJ Hudson (Melbourne), and Mrs. M. Ewing (London) are staying at the Hotel St. George.
