BIG FIRE IN SYDNEY
SYDNEY, January 1. The timber yards and joinery works of Beat Brothers, in the suburb of Waverley, Sydney, were destroyed by fire. The damage is estimated at £20,000. Hundreds of New Year's Eve revellers watching the blaze stampeded in a. narrow lane following an explosion, and 30 children were knocked to the ground and trampled on. A number were injured, but none seriously.
