WELLINGTON WINS
IDLE ALONG HONOURS
The third and fourth races in the contest for the New Zealand Idle Along Championship Cup were sailed at Tauranga on Wednesday, and resulted in two more wins for Wellington's representative, the Vampire. The third race was sailed in a southeasterly wind and steady rain.. Wellington won by 40 seconds from Waikato, Bay of Plenty being third. The afternoon race was also sailed in heavy rain with a strong easterly wind, conditions being apparently much to the liking of the Wellington crew, for they led all the way, and won again by 40 seconds, from Bay of Plenty. The Waikato boat broke a side-stay and did not finish the course.
As the Vampire also won the first and second races, and there were only five to be sailed, Wellington wins the championship.
