LONDON, December 19.

The "Daily Mail" says that, following Signor Mussolini's speech at Littoria, it is learned that Britain and Italy have reached agreement in principle, and that it is hoped to issue coinmuniques\early in 1937 setting out the views of^both Governments that their Mediterranean interests do' not conflict, also that the status quo will be maintained.

It is understood that a satisfactory arrangement has been reached concerning Italy's Abyssinian conquest.

Speaking at Littoria on Friday, Signor Mussolini said: "The past year has proved that the Italians can get what they want' against any opposition. Some of our accounts still exist, but they can be, settled by normal means. We desire a' long period of peace, though we reject the idea of perpetual peace."
