SUCCESSFUL YEAR
MEETING OF LADIES' GUILD
The annual meeting of the Ladies' Guild of the British Sailors' Society took place recently. Mrs. Gittings presided, and gave a special welcome to the large number of members- assembled.
The secretary's report showed that 1936 had been a successful year, and special mention was made of the talks and readings which had been given, making the meetings bright and interesting. The Press were also thanked for many favours.
The report of the treasurer, Mrs. Hoult, was most encouraging, reflecting much credit on the members for their wholehearted support in the work of the guild.
The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted in all the following ladies being re-elected: Mrs. Padman (president), Mrs. Stinson (secretary), Mrs. Hoult (treasurer), Mesdames Brewer, 'Ede, Pickering, and Gittings (vice-presidents).
Mrs. Gittings made reference to the illness of the president (Mrs. Padman), and it was decided to send a letter to her with the loving wishes of the guild.
A delightful reading, entitled "Through Summer Windows" (by Wilhelmina Stitch) was given. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Brewer, Gittings, and Stinson. The acting president conveyed the season's greetings to the members, and announced that the next meeting would be held in February.
