HERE AND THERE
I'aticnts Entertained. The V.A. Division of the Red Cross Society gave an entertainment for the patients in the Ewart Hospital recently. The programme included a short play, a piano solo by Miss Stewart, dancing by Miss Kathleen Haire and her pupil, Miss June Thompson, and a song by Miss Berry, who also played the accompaniments. ' Prizes were awarded for a fancy work, competition held at previous entertainments, and there was a pleasing exhibition of the patients' work. A vote of thanks to the division was carried with hearty acclamation. End-of-the-Xcar Dance. Members and friends- of the Thorndon Tennis Club held a cheery informal dance in their pavilion on Saturday evening. Dancing was held in the rather modernistic ballroom which made an effective background for the pretty frocks worn. A buffet supper was served by members of the club.
