SYNOPSIS OF LAST 48 HOURS.
Whllo an anticyclone has continued to cover the north Tasman Sea and northern New Zealand, a series of, slight westerly depressions has been passing to the south. Consequently moderate to fresh winds between south-westerly and westerly have predominated. The weather was fair to tine generally on Saturday, but since Saturday night have been rather changeable over the South Island with scattered rains, while some heavy falls have occurred in the western and far southern portions. Showers have also been reported at a few Isolated places on the west const of the North Island. Temperatures for the most part have been mild to warm, but by this .morning had become cooler in the/southern half of the South Island. . .
