ON BANK AFFAIRS
DISTINGUISHED VISITOR
A distinguished arrival by the Awatea from Sydney this morning was Lord Balfour of Burleigh, a director of the National Bank of New Zealand, who is visiting New Zealand in connection with the bank's business. He flew from England to Australia, leaving Croydon on December 2. He proposes to spend a couple of months in New Zealand, and is looking forward with the keenest interest to viewing the attractions the Dominion has to offer. "I understand that it is much like Scotland in many respects," .he remarked to a "Post" reporter on arrival. "If it is, lam going to like it very much." "
Lord Balfour was reluctant to. discuss matters political, though he said that.the New Zealand Labour Government's legislation was being followed with the closest interest and sympathy <at Homcv ■.■■.<• :r '■.■.■M-':-.-.i--:xr
In reply to a question he said that the economic position at Home was very satisfactory at present.
Lord Balfour will be a guest; at Government House for two days and will leave for Auckland, where he will spend Christmas. He will visit the races while there.
He is the seventh holder .of the title, which was created in 1607. He had a distinguished war record, serving in the forces from 1914 to 19ia^ and being mentioned four times in dispatches. ; :
