ENTRY NOT GRANTED

NAVY LEAGUE AND SCHO6LS

There was spirited comment at last night's meeting of the Wellington branch of the Navy League on the action of the Wellington Education Board in refusing the league admission to the schools during school hours. Captain W. H. Hartman, the chairmanreported that the board had refused to accede to a request from a deputation that members of the league should be allowed to visit the schools during school hours. "We received quite a good reception," he said. 'There was no hostility to the Navy League, but there are so many other societies asking for admission to schools that the board could not see its way to allow us to enter." A member: It certainly seems to be hopeless to attempt to do anything with education boards, doesn't it? The secretary (Mr. R. Darroch): The Wellington board is the only one. Dr. Graham Robertson said that it appeared to him that members of the board did not realise the relative values of the work of the Navy League and other bodies to which it refused admittance.
