EVACUATIONS BY BRITISH
NAVY
(British Official Wireless.) (Received December 1, 11.20 a.m.) RUGBY, November 30. In answer to a question in the House of Commons, the Foreign Secretary stated that British warships would continue to evacuate British subjects from Spain when and wh are possible, though those who remained had been warned j that facilities could not be assured indefinitely, but the British Government had recently given notice that it was no longer able to accept responsibility for the evacuation of foreign nationals. In accordance, however, with its humanitarian aims, -it would continue to evacuate such persons as appealed to it to be deserving of its assistance, provided his TaajeMy's ships were available for the purpose. Moreover, the British diplomatic and Consular officers in Spain were keeping in touch with the authorities on both sides in Spain and with representatives of the International Red Cross with a view to facilitating the evacuation of further members of the civilian Spanish population.
