William Herbert Chapman, alias William Wells, aged 56, who was arrested last night on a charge of theft, escaped from custody this morning at 7 o'clock and is still at large. man, who was in the lock-up at the police station, feigned sickness, and was allowed out for a walk in the fresh air. When the constable's back was turned he made off. Air mail dispatched from Auckland on November 10 arrived in London on November 27.
