WOMEN AT TAWA FLAT
Mrs. Cook presided over a good attendance at the recent meeting of the Tawa Flat Women's Institute. A most interesting address was given by Miss Willis, of the Health Department, on the value of clefjiliness in the home, general care of children's health, and personal cleanliness. Questions were obligingly answered and Miss Willis was. presented with a charming posy as a token of appreciation.
Mrs. Lightfoot was elected to fill a vacancy on the committee. Arrangements werS made for a children's Christmas tree to be held at the next meeting. Competitions resulted as follows:—Sponge cake, Mrs. Taylor 1, Mrs. Macindoe 2, Mrs. Woodman 3; soap, Mrs. Woodman 1, Mrs. Woodman 2, Mrs. Taylor 3; cretonne article, Mrs. Constantine 1, Mrs. Richardson 2, Miss Rowell 3.
Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Constantine, A. Carman, Richardson, and Dwyor.
Squirrels in the Crater Lake National Park in Oregon, U.S.A., made lazy by an abundance of food given them by tourists, have developed a malady similar to gout, according to park officials.
