WEEKEND RETREAT
TOC H AND SCOUTS
A hut that will be iised as a weekend retreat for Toe H and Scouts was. opened at Mahina Bay during the weekend by Mrs. C. J. McKinnon. The hut was built by Toe H volunteers during the past year.
Dr. Gordon Kemp said that" the idea of a hut where members of the two movements could spend their weekends had come from Scoutmaster Winton Bear, who was a keen member of Toe H and Scoutmaster of the Ro'seneath Scout Troop. The land for ' the hut had been lent by Mr. and Mrs. McKinnon, and it was mainly due to their assistance that the scheme had been made possible. The.hut was furnished with fifteen bunks. Much of the credit for - the- building was, due to Messrs. C. Reeves and T. '''Gift'ord, assisted by the League of .Women Helpers.
Mr. H. V. Foster, Metropolitan Commissioner for Scouting, spoke of the common aims which animated Toe H and Scouting. Mr. Gifford (Toe H-) and Mr. Winton, Bear (Scouting) added their thanks to Mr: and Mrs. McKinnon.
After-Mr: McKinnon . had spoken, Mrs. McKinnon declared the hut officially open. . Toe, H members and the League of Women Helpers entertained the visitors at afternoon'tea.
