AGROUND OFF RIVER

A strange vessel, which is believed to be a Japanese sampan, is aground off the Lambasa River. The Government yacht Pioneer, with police and Customs officials, left for Lambasa last night to ensure compliance with the quarantine, Customs, and immigration regulations. An unconfirmed report states that the crew landed and at' a Chinese store purchased goods, paying for them in Fiji currency, and also that they landed and chopped down a coconut tree on Laucala Island.
