The final trials for the Napier Park Meeting were done this morning, but the gallops were not very instructive, as in the majority of cases the horses were not extended. Silver River and Gascon Chief, neither at their best, took 38sec for three furlongs. Monarchy, looking very much in the rough, occupied lmin 46 sec for once round and was not impressive. Quake, hard held back to Glen Rossie, ran five furlongs in lmin 4Jsec. She is a possibility for Saturday. Blue Shirt, moving short in front, took 2^ sec for two furlongs. Lucullus Lad, with a two-stone advantage in weight, easily accounted tot Essex over six furlongs in lmin 18sec, the best of the morning. The former has yet to race up to his reputation, but his turn appears likely to coma soon.

Mata Hari, not extended, beat Tahoma over half a mile in 52sec. Tha former is very well.

Granvale, who has done mostly hill work lately, was brought to the course and ran five furlongs in lmin 9sec. Ha looks backward.
