The matron and committee expressed thanks to an anonymous donor of a ton of coal, to Mrs. H. E. Taylor for half a ton of coal, and also the following donors for gifts in kind (all of which help so much with the running of the nursery and enable many needy to be helped with clothes):—Mesdames Beales, McMahon, Ross, Porter, Fannin, Thornton, Booth, Guthrie, G. Smith, Alf. Gibbons, Priestly, D. H. Taylor, Brooker, Smith, Peterson, Dobson, McCarthy, Dixon (Oriental Bay), Misses O. Bennett, E. Cross, Sheppard, Downward, Freeman, Messrs. Irvine, Dunning, C. W. Taylor, Roberts, and Hanson; branches, Melvose, Berhampore, and Wadestown. WELFARE BRANCH. The secretary of the Welfare Branch of the Women's National Reserve has received messages of thanks and appreciation from the medical superintendent and matron of the Porirua Mental Hospital for hampers and parcels sent to women and children patients from Levin W.D.F.U., Wadestown, Lower Hutt, Khandallah, Palmerston North, Featherston, Kelburn-Northland, Feilding, and Gisborne. Letters of thanks have also been received from patients who have enjoyed outings, picnics, and entertainments provided from a monetary fund by the members and friends of the Welfare Branch.
