STUDENTS INJURED
A SERIOUS COLLISION
(Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N., This Day. Severe and external injuries were suffered by two Massey College students, John Bolton and .Leonard. PatonMcDonald, when the motor-cycle they were riding came into collision with a car driven by Alfred Henry; Martin, of Umutoi, on Saturday night. The accident happened- in Fitzherbert Avenue. Bolton, who was driving the motorcycle, had his right knee fractured and suffered as well external wounds on the right leg and head. McDonald, who was pillion riding, had a wrist, thigh, and collar-bone broken. Both young men were removed by ambulance to hospital from which it was reported last evening that, considering the seriousness of their injuries, the condition of both patients was satisfactory. Bolton's parents reside in Sydney and McDonald comes from New Plymouth. A car-load of people proceeding from Palmerston North to Wanganui yesterday morning had a narrow escape when the car overturned near Sanson as the result of a tyre bursting. The driver was Mr. J. W. Hooper, of Palmerston North and his passengers were Mr. and Mrs. Kent and Mr. S. H. Doble, of Palmerston North, and Messrs. Holland and Barnes, of Wellington. Mr. Holland suffered a cut forehead, Mr. Kent a cut on top of the head, arid Mrs. Kent bruises on the forehead. The others were unhurt. A farmhand named William James Tutty, of Mangawhata, aged 20, is at present in Palmerston North Public Hospital as a result of an accident which happened on the Main Drain road near Rangiotu. Tutty was riding a motor-cycle which collided with a car driven by W. B. Croad, of Mangawhata. He suffered abrasions to arms and legs.
