| COLD NIGHT EXPECTED 1 Special forecast for Wellington:— Light to moderate southerly winds, turning to north-westerly tomorrow. Weather fine, with cold night temperatures. The general forecast issued' at noon today for the Dominion as a whole is for southerly to south-wester-ly winds, strong at first in parts of the Cook Strait area and on the east coast of the North Island, but otherwise light to moderate, veering to west and north-westerly later in and south of Cook Strait. A few isolated showers are to- be expjected at first between Kaikoura and East Cape and in the far north, but-otherwise fair to fine wea« ther. Temperatures will be cold, with some frosts.

Since last night they have become south-westerly or southerly generally. • The weather for the most,part has.been fair to cloudy, with rather, cool, temperatures. Scattered rain fell yesterday in districts. v with a westerly aspect, and since last night a few isolated falls have occurred in eastern areas. At Auckland the weather has been fair, though it was cloudy yesterday morning and again during the night, when there was an occasional light shower or two. A moderate to fresh south-westerly wind has prevailed,/and temperatures have been on the cool side.

Brilliantly fine weather was experienced in Wellington with a cool northwesterly breeze. The wind became strong in the afternoon, but after 8 p.m. it gradually moderated. At 1.45 a.m. today a fresh southerly sprang up, and early this morning there was a light shower or two. The sunshine yesterday amounted to 10.3 hours. The rainfall up to 9 a.m. today was one point. It was fine and sunny also in Christchurch. There was very little wind in the morning, but a north-westerly gale blew during the afternoon. The weather clouded over in the evening, when the wind changed to southwesterly, but no rain has accompanied the change. This morning the weather there was still overcast.

A strong south-westerly wind has prevailed at Dunedin. It was overcast there yesterday morning but sunny, at times during the afternoon. A few light showers fell during the evening. At ,9 a.m. today the weather was fair with a fresh south-westerly wind. There was one point of rain.
