FOUR BURGLARIES
CARTERTON VISITATION (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CARTERTON, This Day. * Four burglaries occurred at Carterton last night. The premises of the Wairarapa "Daily News" were entered by forcing a side door with a jemmy. All the drawers in desks and the safe were opened and papers and documents strewn everywhere. The sum of £7 in cash and a cheque were taken, in addition to railway stamps." The adjacent premises, occupied by Masson and! Co., implement works, were also entered. The safe was not touched, but about 30s in loose cash was taken. The South Wairarapa : Motors building was entered through a small door in the main doors. A till was wreched open, a showcase smashed, and £3 17s taken. . A side door in Hughan's, Ltd., was forced and a cash register smashed and a smaller register opened without damage. The sum of £6 was stolen. All the office files were strewn about. The police are actively engaged in investigating the burglaries. AUCKLAND FIRM'S LOSS (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Burglars last night stole about £SO in cash from the / Symonds Street branch store of Marriotts Ltd. Entry made through a rear window.
